<Jrgen>Hallo Ty , I do have a 14" barrel in .444
but we don`t have Grizzlies in Germany.I`ve
tried .44 Mag. in it , it goes bang , but
with this amount of "freebore" you`ll not
earn a first place in a competition!
Why should anyone use a .44 Mag ?
Use a reduced load in it and you`re done.
Make sure you have a mzzlebrake on this one,
recoil is quite a handfull, even worse than
my 45/70 with the same bullet weight.
Be careful up North , Jrgen

<ty>Thanks for the reply.I wouldn't shoot 44's in it except for maybe an occasional squirrel

bkmastrhey ty i think jorgen is a lil wiener. i have a 15" t/c encore in the .444 and i love the kick. I have no muzzle brake and it still feels good to shoot. i'm not the most experienced shooter out there, but i know i love my souped up 44. I bought some factory loads that have a 265 grain bullet and supposed to carry at 2335 fps at muzzle. And they are supposed to have around 3k ft lbs of energy. i would say this is enough to take down a bear. If you get the right load i'm sure it is enough to handle a bear. Matt
