I need a spicier LP primer
After today's first outing with the 45 win mag bolt gun it's become rather obvious that win LP primers aren't up to the task of igniting 28grs + of ww296-h110

What I need is the hottest, hardest, meanest large rifle primer made. Pretty much a LR primer in a LP cup.

To the things that you are sayin' who do you thinks gonna hear
And if you should die explainin' how the thing they complain about
Or the things they could be changing who do you thinks gonna care

When you refer to LP, are you trying to use a LARGE PISTOL primer? Winchester LR is for long rifle. For a long time Winchester LR's were considered to be equivelent to the Magnum LR by other manufacturers. Now WIN makes a LR and an MLR.
My opinion is that WIN MLR is about as hot as you can get short of going to a BMG.
My opinion only however. thanks chad

do you guys just automatically see a .xx8 where there is none?

.45 WIN MAG, Magnum automatic handgun cartridge made famous in the Wildey and LAR Grizzly. Essentially a rimless 45lc or a lengthened 45ACP. Will NOT accept rifle primers and sure as heck won't accept 50 BMG primers!

If a Magnum pistol primer won't ignite the powder , two problems exist .

Wrong powder or insufficient bullet crimp . No two ways about it .

Have a look at Rifle primers ; http://www.6mmbr.com/PrimerPix.html

That is real funny. That case is smaller then a .45 Colt and I have zero problems with 296 and standard LP primers. The WW is even hotter.
I see a light bullet and no case tension as the culprit since you can only use a taper crimp for an auto cartridge because that is what comes with the die set. Crimp will not cure poor burn rate anyway.
Don't blame the primer, you have other issues with your loading.
H110 and 296 will not burn clean in that case anyway due to what I have said above.
Try HS-6 instead.

What bullet weight are you shooting anyway?
