Best powder for 223 Remington? ? ?

SD ShooterBest powder for 223 Remington? ? ?
I have reloaded many different calibers for many years, but I have never done 223 Remington. I would appreciate suggestions on which powder is best. I am using new WW brass and Federal or Winchester primers. My concerns are: accuracy, uniform metering, and clean burning. I will be using this ammo for prairie dogs in a Remington 700 PSS. In the past I always shot new Federal Match 69 gr. HPBT and the rifle will consistently shoot half inch groups with this load.

I have found VV N130 and N133 pretty clean burning - something which you (sadly) can't say about many of the Hodgdon powders. Otherwise, H335 is a favourite accuracy wise.

Juggernaut76I've been playing with Hodgen Benchmark for a couple of months now. I've tried about all suitable powders, and this cannot be beat in my .222, .223, and 7mm-08.

p dog shooterBal c 2 WCC 844 I shot up many a jug of those 2 in my 223. the 844 is cheap and works well

Many of us who shoot the 15/16 rifle in XC matches use Reloader 15 with that very bullet. Ranges shot are 2-3-and 600 yards. Switch to the 80 grain SMK for the 600, but at the 2-3 the 69SMK is outstanding. These are service type rifles, not optics and good shooters from a sling can keep the bulk of the shots in the 10 and X ring at those distances. W/ a bolt gun and optics from a support, very, very accurate and again, RE15 works well. Some do use Varget due to it's stability in temp. changes. Good Luck.

From a cost and accuracy standpoint it's damn hard to beat Accurate 2230C. Bill T.

If you can't do it in a 223Rem with either of those two
it simply isn't worth doing.

ole_270+1 more for the Benchmark.Tried it in 4 rifles so far, all loved it. Much cleaner than H335, and in my rifles, more accuarate.
