POP7mm rum and 140 - 150 gr?
I will begin working on my bud's 7mm rum (rem BDL 700). He wants to work up the ultimate long range antelope/deer load. Fast and flat shooting as hell! So what has worked for you guys? I have only worked with the 160 AB's in mine.
Accuracy? velocity? thanx guys.

fredj338For windbucking POP, I'ld stay w/ those long 160grNABs. Check the drop figures @ 500yds w/ a 250yds zero, not much diff. between 140gr & 160gr but the 160gr buck the prairie winds better.

POPOh I know.

This is why I stuck with the 160's in my SAKO.
He wants some high #'s.

Rooster140gr. BT with RL-22, It's worked for me for almost 20 yrs. Great velocity and accuracy.

POPIs 3600 fps possible with the 140's?
I had a 7 STW and got 3500 fpe with 80 gr of IMR 7828. Since the RUM is more capatious it should do it , no?

fredj338I would think so POP. I can get 3450fps w/ my 26"bbl. 7mmDakota w/o bending anything. Try RL25, or H1000 in the big RUM case. His bbl. won't last very long though.

fredj338Just curious, have you shown your buddy drop/wind tables for the 140gr v 160gr bulelts? That plus longer bbl. life would make me a believer.

POPYup...just velocity happy I guess. In my own SAKO 75 7 RUM I use 160 gr Accubonds at 3205 fps.

fredj338I'm using 160grNPs @ 3250fps in my 7mmDakota & have no complaints. It shoots pretty flat out to 400yds & that's about as far as I am willing to shoot at game.
