.22 HORNETCalhoun Bullets
Today I saw a website for
Calhoun Bullets . The site claimed you could achieve
3500+ fps from a 30gr bullet in the .22 Hornet. Have any of you guy's heard of them or tried them? Anyone have any load data for them in .22 Hornet? Thanks for all replies.

craigsterI've used the 55gr DEHPs in a 22-250 with very good results. They were accurate and very explosive on ground squirrels and rock chucks. Give them a call and talk to James re his suggested loads in the Hornet. He's a nice guy and very helpful.
Ditto on the performance! I have used them in a 223, and need to place an order for a thousand or so myself.
I shoot the 37 grains and 42 grainers.
Cheers and good shooting

.22 HORNETThanks Craigster and Seafire. I think I'm going to order some of the 37gr bullets. My Hornet loves the 40gr v-max and 33gr Speer bullets with Lil'Gun. These should do well to I would think. If any of you guy's out there have loaded the Calhoon's using Lil'Gun in the Hornet, please let me know your results. Thanks

Pete in IdahoThe only Calhoun bullets I have shot were some 25gr. 17cal. and couldn't get them to group in either of my 17s.
As for Lil'Gun in the hornet I've had great results. Formally I was shooting 13.5grs of 1680 behind a 40gr. Speer for a velocity of 2780fps. 3shot groups running from 3/4- 1in.
With Lil'Gun and the same amount of powder groups remained the same but the velocity increased 302fps.-3082fps., mild pressures.
My hornet likes the 35gr. Vmax best. Groups drop to 5/8-1/2in. I'll bet I can hit 3200fps with no strain. Pedro
