<toto>new rifle
I am sure there are a lot of different opinions out there. I posted the other day about getting a new Savage rifle. Since then I have been thinking which usually gets me into trouble. I think this will be my last. ? What do you think is the best over the counter rifle out there. I was thinking about a Sako in the stainless STW. Any pros or cons would be appreciated. THANKS. fws

<JOHAN>Well
Depends on what to use it for. Why not a 300 wby sako 75, or a 7mm rem/wby mag?
Sako rifles are nice TIKKA is good bang for the buck. For forest hunting 9,3X62 in my no:1 choice.
Everything depends on what your personal preferences are

I love my savages for their accuracy. That said I just bought a SAKO 75 in 300 Rum and it shot 1/2" groups out of the box!
Depends on your economics!

<toto>Johan, I already have two 9.3x62's. I am thinking of selling one of them. Johan don't read this the wrong way cause if I was to have only one rifle it would be my CZ 9.3X62. Thanks. fws
Pop, I really want 7ultra and the only ones I know that makes it is Rem. & Savage. Do you know if Sako is going to make the 7ultra. Did you get the stainless. I have a custom STW I had built but the dad gum thing weighs 12# which is a little heavy to carry around. A lot of people had a lot of good things to say about the Savage. That may be the way to go. Thanks for the input. fws

ricciardelliI don't know anyone who openly admits that his next purchase will be his last!
Rather than offer advice, how about I offer my sympathy?

<toto>Pop, I just received a reply from England that said Sako is going to build the 7rum this year, so my next situation is Rem. or Sako. I have been told that either one's workmanship is not up to par. I personally do not know. I do know tgat I have both a older Sako and Rem. that in my opinion is all a person could wantfor the money. Thanks. Any other thoughts will be appreciated. fws

<Delta Hunter>Sako's workmanship not up to par? Are you kidding? I've got two of them and I guarantee you they are up to par. The fit, finish and, more importantly, the accuracy is better than any other rifle I own. I also own a Remington 700 and it will be my last unless things change over at Big Green.
How many times have I sworn that this firearms purchase would be my last?
I've sworn off "swearing off" . . .
I'm always looking for that next gun. I'm a gun nut. Buying, selling, trading, building is my life's blood. Right now I want to sell the AR that I never shoot and I'm looking at an FAL with an Imbel receiver . . . although a Springfield trapdoor in 45/70 snaps my sox too . . .
I have a few I'll never part with. I'll never sell my Mausers. Never sell my Garand, never sell my 1911's. But I'm not going to swear that I won't buy another gun. It's not realistic.
I really, really like my Rem. 700 PSS. You're looking for a bolt gun that's hot, Rem 700 will fill the bill.
Six months ago I bought guns off the rack. Now I'm starting to build them. Pray that you never get to be pals with a machinist and a gunsmith!
