OAL*difference
Yesterday at the range, before the rain!
The difference OAL made. Roll Eyes
.223 Savage 12BVSS-S, 34gr. HP Varmint Nite Mare, 24.2grains Acc2200, Case RP Primer Fed. 200.
  • OAL=2.165", 3600 avg. FPS., 6 shot 3/4" group at 50 yds.
  • OAL=2.122", 3615 avg. FPS., 10shots 1/2" group at 50 yds.
    popcornThe difference between the two groups was more evident at 200 yds. Both were mild and clean.

    FrownerFYI** fired 16 rounds from my .358 X .404 IMP. 250 grain bullets at 2800 fps.Mild load but still punishing. Eekerroger

    Hi Roger....It looks like your Savage likes its bullets well off the lands. I'm curious, is your OAL measurements to the bullet tip or the ogive? If there to the ogive, how far are they off the land?
    I looked in all my load manuals and could not find any 34 gr. bullet's for that caliber. Did you extrapolate on the powder charge, or, are all my manuals out of date? Smiler

    Generally the cook books are used only for a ready reference. Interpolation plays a large part.

    You probably don't find any manual listing acc2200 either but I know a few that know what it is and would like to have what I got. beerroger
