R-WESTR15 is a good fit in the 30-30, although not as good as R12, unfortunately discontinued, was. According to Alliant, you can go to 36 grains or R15 with 150's, but, my best accuracy has come at a grain or two less than that. With the 30-30, you're not going to get major velocity anyway, so, I've always gone for accuracy.

John FrazerI tried it but it didn't give as good accuracy as W748. Velocities were right about the same. RL-15 might be less temperature-sensitive.

bedlamiteMy experience is similar to R-WEST. Mt best loading was with the Rem C-L 150gr bullets on 35gr of RL15 at just over 2300fps. I don't use RL15 in 30-30 anymore, and have switched to W748.
Ohaygen- I'm about 10 miles north of Sheboygan, where do you normally shoot? I normally go to Viking.

KTS1My 30-30 contender carbine loves 35gr of RL15 with the 130 gr hornady SSP bullets, I use winchester primers and either R-P or Win. brass

TXLoaderHaven't worked yet with the 150 gr bullet, but RL 15 gives me the best velocity and accuracy for my 170 gr load. 34.0 gr RL 15 nets me 1.5" groups @ 100 yds (open sights) and a velocity sitting tight between 2150 and 2200 fps.
W748 and IMR 3031 are also excellent powders to work with for the 30-30.

<Ohaygen>thanks guys for the info so far, I will probobly just have to do some testing myself, thats part of the fun anyway.Bedlamite,I made a 3/8" thick steel plate tilted on a 45deg. angle w/ sand bags on the bottom for a backstop, set up in my backyard, p.s. I do live in a rural area!!

DLMFunny how this works out, always a multitude of answers.
Anyway, my personal favorite is 37 grs IMR 4064 with the 150 gr. bullet. About the best velocity I have found and definitely the best accuracy.
34 grs. does well with the 170 grainer too but I much prefer the 150's.
Regards, DLM
