I found a 45 Colt load for Hornady's .452 cal 250 grain XTP using H110 on Hodgdon's site.

Would it be ok to substitute a 230 grain copper-plated hollowpoint?

What happens when you try to push a CPHP at about 1400 fps?

For a 20" Rossi 92 lever gun

Normally I would say ok but not With H110

H110 is a picky powder as far as load levels.

As far as pushing CPHP's fast they expand fast.

One will experience lower penetration.

H110 needs to be loaded using published data. It does not down load well & can spike pressures near maximum.

Same can be said of Win 296 powder

Be carefull picking a 230 gr. bullet for a 45 L.C. as most 230 gr. bullets are 45 ACP..I say this because I caught a friend doing this, when he called me and said his rifle would shoot into a pie plate..
