Accurate 2230C powder
Is Accurate Arms 2230C powder good for 223 Remington varmint loads ?

Does it meter well through normal powder measures such as Dillon, RCBS, or Redding ?

See where it can be bought for $60 per eight pound jug.

I hope to see some good answers to this question.
That is THE cheap mid range speed powder right now.

It's shot some darn fine groups in my 8x57. Wish I could say how well it works in the .223. They claim it was developd for that cal.

We've had so-so results in the .223 with 2230-C but some rather nice groups with a 22-250. I've used it in a number of other rifles but haven't done anything great yet.

Clark! we've been getting some accuracy with wcc846 and wcc 844. The price is right. Have you tried either yet? roger

Not yet.

I have enough powder to keep going to the range every couple weeks for the rest of my life.

It is that last big prairie dog trip that will get me buying:

WC844 $64/8# = $8/lb, equivalent to AA2230 for .223
WC846 $64/8# = $8/lb, equivalent to BLC2, for .223, 308

Would you share more details of the 8x57 load?

Major Caliber,

The load I settled on is 44.0 grains with the Rem 185 Corelokt and CCI primers.. It'll shoot sub 1" with the issue iron sights on my yugo 24/47. I ran it up to 47.5 grains which was only slightly less accurate. I stared with 42.0 grains and worked up. I settled on 44.0 grains in deference to the buttplate. For a hunting load the 46.0 grain load is what I'd use in my rifle.

M.C. You are right of course. At least in Iraq the chance is slim to none. In D.C. it is just totally undoable. If the DOING had to be done by old men instead of are brave youngsters there would be no blood letting. Egomania and greed would have to find another tool to achieve their gain.

This is far from reloading .
Sorry ,but every now and then I can't hold it any more and I vent. roger

I haven't shot 2230C, but I've been through 10lbs or so of 2230 with 69gr sierras and 24.3grs. That load has shot 1/2minute or better in about 7 different 223's. I would think 2230C would be just as good......DJ

In a advertisement in Shotgun News a couple of weeks ago, Accurate ran an advertisement for this powder that says it should be used with 2460 data, NOT 2230 data. 2230-C is slower burning than 2230 so it's doubtful you would get into trouble loading it to 2230 data. It works well in .223 as well as .308. Bill T.

Major Caliber,

I edited my load data. The loads I listed were lighter than what I actually used. The load I am actually using is 44.0 grains and a 185 grain CoreLokt.
