I have run into a small number FailSafe bullets in 7mm I will try in my .280Rem.
Have anyone the new Nosler Manual with the loadingdata for this bullets??
Both 140 and 160grs, if there is for Vv or Norma powder it will be best but I also have IMR 4350 and 4831.

Have somebode done hunting with FailSafe in .280?
Mostly I use Partition 150 &160 for hunting but it�s always fun to try load a new bullet, it can always be a great supprise

I like the heavier bullets in the .280. I have tested many in wet phone books & find the partitions to be about perfect. I haven' tried the failsafe but did try their part.gold. I found it to be a very tough bullet. The nose expands quite well, but the jacket is very thick & expansion stops before the nose can peel back to the partition. It limits penetration. I think they are better off used above 3000fps. The 140FS may do well @ .280 speeds.

Sweden, I load a Tikka in 280 with 140 XLC's. I use Alliant's RL19, but anything in the burnrate from 4350 to 4831 should work fine. I believe Bofors makes the RL powders, so Norma might have an equivalent number. Just slightly slower than MRP (RL22) in any case. HTH, Dutch.

expect the 140gr failsafes to completely penetrate moose!

Thomas, I have heard horror stories about Fail Safes on smaller game animals such as deer. I am not sure if the disgust with performance was due to overpenetration or the lack of it. Being constructed somewhat like an X-bullet, I would imagine it was due to overpenetration with a lack of expansion. Do you have any thoughts on this? Is the moose thoery from personal experience?

I watched a friend shoot a small buck at about 200 yds. with a 140 FS from a 280AI. One shot, through the chest, the deer made a short dash and hit the dirt. The exit hole looked about like the exit holes I get with X-bullets. I didn't stick around to see what the internal damage was as I still had a tag which I took down the ridge and filled.

The bullet weight I gonna get is 160grs.
Proberly it�s ok to use same loads i do for the 160grs Rhino Solid Shanks in 160grs.

160 Grain Bullet -
Vit. 165 from 51.0 grains, 2607 fps to 55.0 - 2788 fps.
IMR 4350 from 46.5 - 2590 fps to 50.5 - 2810 fps.

140 Grain Bullet -
Vit - 160 from 50.0 - 2711 fps to 54.0 - 2929 fps.
IMR 4350 From 48.5 - 2718 fps to 52.5 - 2940 fps
As usual, approach max loads with caution.
