Primer prices
What are yall paying for primers.

I found some at 22/K, whichs seems pretty good from what I have been reading lately

If 1,000 rounds of .22 LR ammunition, which includes primer, case, powder, and bullet and also includes an 11% federal excise tax that is not charged on reloading components sells for as little as $18 (everyday price of Federal Champions at Academy, $8.95 per brick), then it is hard to see how the same manufacturer can justify $20 to $30 for the same number of primers.

$27 + a portion of hazmat(say $3) + a portion of shipping(say $2)= $32/1000 for Federal GMM 215s

Around $22 for WLRs

Above from Powder Valley when added to a shipment of powder rescently.

Last time I bought 215 GMMs they were only $26/1000 plus tax locally a couple years back, now he wants around $40 Eeker

Good Luck

The question is can you get any. Never mind the price. In the UK most dealers are sold out full stop!

Had a dealer tell me Federal is going to get very stingy with its primers this year. I wanted some 210M primers and was told no dice. Anyone know about this?

Bought a life time supply years ago. Seemed like a lot of money back then. They were $10/K. Now that investment seems like a good idea.

I am in the Uk and bought a few items at my local gunshop yesterday:

1,000 Remington LR primers $44
1lb H4350 $75
100 Hornady 30cal 168HPBT $46
I also priced up a new barrel for my Rem700 in .308 - $1,312 fitted.
I drove to the shop in my 4x4, filling it up with diesel at $1.76 a litre (about $8 a gallon).
Arrived home to find a reassessed tax demand waiting for me - I have apparenly been paying too little.

Alsoooo everything moves by transportation and trans. uses fuel! fuel goes up and everything will follow. Not to mention everyone has to buy fuel and there services and products will go up due to there expenses. if you drink cokes you better buy you a wheelbarrow it take it full of $$$$ soon to buy one.
Does the War have any effect on the price or just supply? I have went back to Winchesters due to the lack of fm

Just paid $18.95 for CCI 400 small rifle, $19.95 for Win LR.

Jerry, it would be cheaper to move to America. I loaded 4000 rounds last year. At your prices, you could probably buy airfare for the family.

Regarding the UK situation, it is actually far worse than I made out - did not want to appear to be moaning too much. The price quoted for the barrel was withoit threading for the sound moderator - that was an extra $288. The road tax for the 4x4 had gone up last month to $345 - at least the congestion charge has been put on hold (that would be an extra tax of about $15 a day to drive into work). To add insult to injury, the gun shop insisted that I bring my firearms license with me in future if I wanted to purchase primers, and they were worried that they may struggle to get further supplies.
The only thing I can think of is that it is related to 9/11 and the government is trying to price the terrorists out of bussiness.
Could someone explain this Boston Tea Party thing once again?

Paul from nz
down here in nZ its $44/1k for federal 210 and $65/1k for 210 match and thats probably cheaper than most places over here.

i personally have never had a problem of finding primers where i live

You guys see what jerry & paul are paying. best to stop complaining. It's not as simple as gas prices going up. We have been paying higher fuel costs ($3 & up) for a couple years now but primers & other components have been going up alot lateyl. Commodity prices maybe, the war maybe. Best to stock up this year where you can, it's not going to get cheaper. Primers last a looong time stored properly. Get your order in today for 20K assorted & sitback & watch the prices got to UK or NZ levels (especially if the liberals take over, sorry couldn't resist). beer

Looks like the 28 I paid for CCI BR2 primers was very cheap in deed. If I lived in the UK I probably would not be shooting much.

Looks like prices vary widely , depending on where one resides . Fed match are next to impossible to come up with is the word I'm hearing . Winchester are around $22 per K . Seems as though most are in the $22 - 28.50 when available ?. I was fortunate enough to fore see a possible coming shortage last year . I along with a couple of friends purchased multi cases of Sm & Lg rifle Fed Match and Win. while they were available and still under $ 18.00 per K .

Nothing but Win WLRs at $24.99 and Fed 215 Magnums and Fed 215 Magnum Match available here.

Well except for CCI BMG primers and shot shell primers.
