Mike_Dettorre8x57 mauser and 4350?
Anybody got a favorite load? 195 grn bullet is the projectile.

wildcat junkieWith a bullet of 200grs. or less, you basicly can't get enough IMR4350 into the case to reach anything like dangerous pressure.
Nosler lists 52gr @ 107% load density as the max load for a 200gr Partition.
I think that the load density rather than pressure was the ceiling in that situation. The max load was also the most accurate.

dentonJunkie is right. Since you have a relatively larger bore, you need a faster powder to get decent MV in the 8mm. 52 grains of Varget gives me 2700 fps with the 175 grain Sierra.

ricciardelliW-748 From 40.6 grains to 49.0 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer
would be my choice, but if you are determined to use one of the 4350 powders...
AA-4350 From 52.9 grains to 61.3 grains
Winchester LRM Primer
H-4350 From 53.9 grains to 59.1 grains
Winchester LRM Primer
IMR-4350 From 53.4 grains to 61.5 grains
Winchester LRM Primer

rdmrkellyI have used 53 gr. of IMR-4350 with 175 Sierra spitzer for years. 1944 byf Mauser only change to the rifle (mechanically) is a scope. Will shoot 1 1/2" groups and for deer that is good enough for me. Longest shot so far is just under 200 yards. Went right down.

dentonrdmrkelly...
You and I are having parallel experiences. I bought a Yugo for $85, with thoughts of making a custom rifle out of it. With H4350, I get 1 1/2" groups at 100, so I don't have the heart to take apart a rifle that is working well. By going to Varget, I got the MV up by 250 fps, though the H4350 load would certainly anchor a deer.

irv Put all the 4350 you can into the case with some compression. Enjoy!, it will be an accurate shooter
somewhere around 2500 fps.
Good luck!

NavajoNPaleFaceI've have great luck with both of my M48s using 41 grain of IMR 4350, 150 grain Hornady GR SP Interlock bullet (item #3232), and set at an OAL of 2.940" (+/- .005").
