need info on ammo
Hello All,

I've recently acquired a Russian Nagant revolver. The limited info I got with it says it is chambered in 7.62x38R caliber.

I cannot find any reference to the caliber. On the Load Data web site I can find reference to a "7.62x39 Russian" caliber but not the '38R' chambering.

My questions:
1. Is the '7.62x38R' and the '7.62x 39 Russian' actually the same cartridge or are they different?
2. Where could I find a reputable source for ammo in the U.S.?

Thanks in advance,
Longfeather

They are 2 completely different cartridges. Check this:

You can find information about the catridge in the book Catridges of the World.
The Nagant revolvers use a special Gas sealed ammo, the cylinder rotates and moves forward to seal with the barrel, the bullet seat inside the case and actually touches the barreal sealing the gases.
Maybe Fiochi makes ammo.
