Super Bon BonVmax question
I am a big fan of Hornady's Vmax bullets. They work excellent in my 223 (50gr) and 2506 (75 gr). I have alway been curious, however, as to why the 7mm Vmax (120 grs) is the heavier than the .30 caliber (110 grs).
Anyone have an answer?

DennisFI don't know for sure, but it may have something to do with the fact that the old 7mm. SSPB and the 7mm. VMAX are the same bullet. They just quit marketing the SSPB. I'm not sure, just a guess.

vapodogthe 7MM V-Max is heavier than the .30 cal V-Max because there's more lead in it.

groundhog devastationI am not sure of the reason behind the design of the 120VMAX vs the 30 caliber version, but I am sure of one thing......a better 7mm varmint bullet will be a long time in coming!!! The 120 VMAX even at 2515fps from a 7mmBR XP will do a definite number on a varmint(deer are varmints too you know!!!)Push them about 3100-3300 out of the various rifle chamberings and watch(no, most have sufficient recoil to preclude the watching, so an "aftermath viewing" is usually called for) the DEVASTATION delivered!!
