talentrec.44 Mag Carbine Loads
I have a box of 250 gr. Partitions I want to load up for my Ruger Deerfield Carbine. I have both Accurate #9 and Lil' Gun sitting on my bench. Anyone have any thoughts on either of these powders for a carbine-length barrel?
Pete
I own a Ruger Model 77/.44 bolt action rifle and I found this load the most accurate with a 240 grain Hornady XTP bullet. 23.5 Grs/ H-110/ 240 using a Large Pistol Magnum Primer. Velocity is 1,750 FPS and it groups 5-shots @ 50 yards into .50". I've never used anything heavier than a 240 grainer.

tnekkccWhen the original 44 carbine came out there was a magazine article that said that High velocity 44 mag ammo was only for the rifle and that standard velocity ammo was for the revolvers.
I don't think much of gun magazine writers.
I use the same load in the carbine as the revolver 240 gr JHP 24 gr H110, 1733 fps with a 20" Marlin barrel on the Ruger carbine.
