Columbo57Accurate arms powders.
Dose anybody use them? If so for what calibers.
Did you use them in the past but don't use them anymore. If this so why not? Found a little shop down the road from me that has nice supply of all the numbers. Are there better powders out there? Calibers of interest are 22-250,30-06&300win. Any and all info would help greatly!
Thanks Rich

Terry BlauwkampI use lots of AA Powders, especially AA 3100 in my 300 Win Magnum and AA 4350 in the 338 Win Mag. In the 30-06 AA 2700 and AA 4064 are great.

N. GarrettI use AA 2230 exclusively in my 400 Whelen AI.
(I plan on experimenting with WW 748 in the 400 Whelen when the weather turns nicer)
I am using AA 5744 in my 357 Mag pistol, with the 158 grain XTP bullet.
Good powder.
Also use both powders in my Savage Muzzleloader as well.

vapodogPowder proliferation is one of my serious problems so I have cut out Ramshot and AA as powders I buy....not that they have poor powders, in fact they have fine powders....just nothing I can't get from hodgdon.....and a few from Alliant

This is a list of the accurate powders I use: #9, 2015, 2230-C, 2460, 2520, 3100, 4064, 4350,
In the accurate DP series: 2200, 73, 74, wcc844, wcc846, 85, 86.

In one fire arm or more each powder has had excellent performance. There have been some hang fires with wcc844 and wcc846 in 95 gr. or larger capacity cases. Other than that there have been some great results.

James Kain http://www.accuratepowder.com/Default.htmThere was a powder talked about used for the M1 Carbine in Hand loader or rifle mag(cant remember which. The guy in the mag went on to say how the powder grouped all the shell cases in one spot. DAMN! I went to buy it the other day at the shop I go to and he was out.
Sense I cast I asked them about reduced loads for casting and I got loads for all the cartridges I shoot.
Wicked nice people to work with.
For the 30M1 we typically suggest the following.
Caliber: .30 Carbine (M1)
Barrel length: 17½”
Powder: Accurate -- 5744.
Bullet weight: 110 grains.
Start load: 12.0 grains (1475 - 1575 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 15.5 grains (1900 – 2000 ft/p/sec) Full case
Caliber: .303 British.
Barrel length: 24”
REDUCED LOADS
Powder: Accurate – 5744.
Bullet weight: 150 grains.
Start load: 25.0 grains (1850 – 1950 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 29.0 grains (2100 -2200 Ft/p/sec).
Bullet weight: 174 -180 grains.
Start load: 23.0 grains (1650 – 1850 ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 27.0 grains (2000 -2100 Ft/p/sec).
the rest I was sent in .pdf format.
hope this helps anyone else looking in to it.

Outstanding powder for the .375 H&H!
Out of my M70 I use 79 gr under a 300 gr Hornady RNSP for 2510 fps and 51,600 psi (taken with an Oehler M43). This is in R-P cases with WLR primers. I also get very close to moa - I only have a 2.5x scope on mine. With a 350 Woodleigh SP 77 gr pushes them at 2375 fps with 55,000 psi.

Columbo57Gents,
Thanks for the replies.
Round 2.
Terry: will 3100 do better in the 300win than H4831 or Rl22?
N.Garret: in a smokepole! details please.
ptaylor: what kind of vel. are you getting with both 458s
Thanks

James KainJust a tidbit for some of us to digest on. I was looking at the powder burn rates on Hodgton.com and came to find out, in larger fire arms, that slower burn rates seem to generate more fps. Now is my observation true? You know I m going to start a thread on this.

Oh, ya just must try ( up to 49 gr ) of AA 2520 in the 358 Win with 250 gr Horndy bullets. A positively deadly Deer stopper.

onefunzr2I like Accurate powders in general but especially their pistol powders, #2, 5, 7 and 9, and MagPro which gives the fastest speed and best accuracy of any others I've tried in the 2 cartridges I load it in. I like that they post free loading data online and that their ballistician answers your emails pronto. Also, I haven't found any deterioration in their product lines or service since being gobbled up by Western Powders. I think their powder is made in the Czech Republic.
