Vertical or Horizontal groups
Like to get some input from some of you on what would cause these. I have two guns, one shoots vertical groups with only 1/2" or so of horizontal deviation. But 2-3" of vertical spread.

The other will cloverleaf 2-3 then throw one high. It's always high, never low. (While I am not immune to throwing one occasionally with a flinch ... it's not a flinch in this case.)

Leaving out operator error and a hot barrel, tell me what you have found would cause these two issues.

Your first issue is called vertical stringing.

Then for your second issue is this on a thinner barrel hunting rifle? Sometimes when barrels heat up they can push on the bedding and push the shot up.

Mac the second issue Vertical flyer is a heavy barreled 375 H&H. It usually even shoots great hot.

BTW, that was a good read. Some things in there I did not know.

Makes me wonder if my bolt has some crud in it and the firing pin is not hitting at a consistent speed.
