7828 in a 260 Rem
I've got a few lbs. of IMR 7828. Hornady shows it for their 129 gr. bullet, but not 140 gr. Has anybody tried this powder in the 260 Rem?

Both the Nosler manual and www.imrpowder.com show that 7828 produces good velocity with that case.

I really thought it might be too slow for the 260.

I came across several jugs of WW785 commercial powder which was used in 30.06 machinegun ammunition. It should have been way too slow for the 6.5x55 I was working with. However, 48 grains and a Sierra 140 gr Match King go 2800 FPS and shoot in to half an inch on a good day. It seems that slow (4831 and slower) can work well in the 6.5.

I7828, (along with H4831SC, H450, WMR, H1000 and about any other slow burner) works great in my 260's with 140 grainers. Any of them will provide velocities of 2750 FPS from a 22" barrel, with good accuracy.
