reloader lenPrimers ,mag or not
Ihave a 300 rum that my hand loads go up and down.
i have checked every thing ,can not find any thing wrong.i was wondering if useing a fed 215
instead of a 215m would make a diffrence. anyone
ever done this

fredj338It certainly wouldn't hurt to try different primer/powder combos. It usually doesn't matter, but it can. I often will try match primers in a good load to see if it will shoot better.

<David>Both of the primers you mentioned, Fed 215 and Fed 215M are Large Rifle Magnum primers. The "M" stands for Match Grade with Federal Primers. These two are essentially the same except the match primers as supposed to be a bit more consistant. If you want to us Large Rifle (non-magnum) try Fed 210 or 210M.
My take on this is you should stick with a magnum primer for the 300 RUM. Lots of powder to ignite. If the primer isn't up to it you will get inconsistant velocities and worst case, misfires. I usually go along with the recomendations in the loading manuals. Not necessarily the brand, but magnum or not.
