My old reloading books show the .257 Wby getting about 150 fps over the .25-06. With newer powders, has this advantage increased, decreased, or stayed about the same. What velocity are you getting with 100-120 grain bullets?

Definately more case capacity but also remember the freebore and 26" barrel also helps. I get 3600 out of factory rounds and reloads with 100 grainers and right at 3300 with reloads in 117-120 grainers in my 26" wby alaskan. Very good shooting gun.....but pretty heavy to be carrying around on hunts that require alot of walking.

I shoot a 100 grs TSX load at about 3500+ fps in my Blaser R93 - 25.5" barrel. If I'm not much mistaken, the factory loads are a tad faster, but this load is already hard on the brass, so I'm not about to go any higher.

.257 Weatherby is a great caliber.
I load it with Reloader 22 and Nosler 115g bullets, it shot 3470 Fps... very accurate!!!

I have loaded a few different bullets in my .257 Roy. Some of the loads that I have that are safe in my gun (Mark V Deluxe) are:

Nosler 110 grain Accubond w/RL25 - 3,525 fps

Combined Tech 115 grain Ballistic Silvertip w/IMR7828 - 3,412 fps

Barnes 100 grain TSX w/RL25 - 3,640 fps.

I love this caliber.
