Hello Bearlake,

The only one that I could find, was that in the G&A 1992 Annual firearms guide, they listed the Ruger M77 RSI (International) in "250-300", but I'm sure they meant "250-3000". They also list 100 grain factory ammo loads from both Win and Rem. However, the current Ruger listings no longer include this cartridge.

I'm not aware of any others.

I think that the 25-06 and 257 Roberts pushed it out of the market.

Bear, Ruger used to as did Savage in their Model 99. Quite likely neither of them do anymore. I'm almost positive Ruger dropped it.

I used to own one in a Ruger and it was a real sweetheart. VERY pleasant rifle to shoot and excellent on Texas whitetail.

I'm afraid a good used one will be your best bet. Start haunting the gunshows. Good luck.

OH, a Roberts is a jewel of a cartridge as well and you will likely find one of these as easily as the 250/3000 [Smile]

I picked up a nice Ruger M77 in .250 Savage last year when I ran into it in a used gun rack. This one will go to the next grandson coming up.

You can also look for them on gunbroker.com and auction arms, or other web sites. The .250 and the .257 Roberts are both great cartridges for deer sized game.

Check the used gun racks - lotsa younger folks will pass one by as they don't even know what it is, and factory ammo isn't carried by Wal Mart.

Or, consider that a Remington Model 7 in .243 could be rebarreled to .250 rather easily. That petite M7 would make a SWEET .250.

I am also a fan of the Savage.

Bearlake, I've got a 15" T/C factory Encore barrel in 250 Savage. I believe they periodically make a limited run in 250 Savage. Not sure whether it's available in carbine length, though. Of course, you could obtain whatever barrel length you want for an Encore in 250 Savage from MANY different custom gunsmiths. Gary T.

Ruger, Remington has made special runs of them from time to time...I see a few Rugers, Savage 99's and Remington 700's for sale every two weeks in the Gunlist.

The 250-3000 is one of the great all time calibers and a perfect match for mule deer IMO.

Bearlake,
I am not aware of any currently manufactured rifles chambered in Savage 250-3000 (aka Savage 250). But please consider finding an actual (older) Savage 99 in that caliber. The search may take a while to find a nice one, but it will be worth the wait.

old I screwed my long throated .250-3000 barrel into a Stevens Mod. 200 action. May not be suave but it sure is a joy to shoot. beer roger

I have one of the old Savage Model 1920 bolt actions in 250-3000. It is a sweet little rifle.A friend has one of the Ruger 77's and they are very nice little rifles. There should be a few Rem 700's out there as well. A simple re-barreling of any short action bolt gun should work as well.

Well I have never participated in a thread that is 10 years old. But I just did put a deposit down on a Savage model 14 American, blued with a real nice walnut stock, be a few more paychecks till it is mine. FS

Congratulations, that is one fine .250!!! My 700 Classic looks rather bland when compared but, it actually is a 3/4 MOA shooter.

Ruger no longer list a .250, but they do chamber in .257 Roberts.
Savage currently list a .250.
Remington list one .250.
Winchester makes a .257.
