HockeyPuckLoadTech released by AEM
LoadTech was released this week by AEM. It calculates loads for straight-wall, bottleneck, rifle or pistol, high- or low-capacity and velocity cartridges. Converts between English and metric measurement systems "on-the-fly". This supercedes CalcuLoader, which has been discontinued. CalcuLoader owners will receive a free update, as promised.

jsrI just got my copy today and its got Calculoader beat hands down! I ran it thru its paces for various rifles and pistols, bottleneck and straight wall. The data I have on hand is a very close match to what it gave me,so I have no reason to doubt what I can't compare. Great company and product, and customer service that can't be beat!

mbmcoI just received a copy from Ed, and I am very impressed. Have been playing with it all afternoon. Wicked easy to use, and accurate as hell. I am very pleased with it and will recommend it to my friends.
Thank you again,

Lar45Mine hasn't gotten here yet, I'm hopeing tomorrow. Question, does it do blackpowder? Or could you add it?
21 October 2003, 00:17
Rob1SGReceived my copy on Sat. very nice. Much better than the Caluloader. Accuracy we'll see what happens when I get to the range but seems to be on the money with my Chrono.

HockeyPuckLar45,
You are the first to ask for black powder loads. We were in contact with Sam Fadala once and were considering a collaboration on a black powder cartridge program or as a feature to AccuLoad. To be honest, I can't remember why we dropped it. I'll have to dig back through my records of phone conversations and see what happened.
LoadTech doesn't do black powder loads... yet. We'll add to our list of good ideas to work on.
Thank you.

HockeyPuckWade,
You're the second gentleman in the last few days who has sent emails without a response from us. I just haven't received any from you (or him). I'll have to go choke our web wienie and get the mail fixed. It's almost 11:00 PM and too late to call tonight, but I'll call you tomorrow evening.
As for AccuLoad updates, we're working as fast as we can to fully integrate LoadTech into AccuLoad. It just takes more time because of the conversions of English measure to metric on the fly. AccuLoad has thousands of ballistic calculations that LoadTech doesn't concern itself with. Lots of other new features as well. We anticipate the testing to start in about three weeks.
I'll look up your email address in our customer file and email you my home account, so you'll have an alternate route to reach us. Did you use the 1-800 number?
Regards,
HockeyPuck

<Savage 99>The loads for a 7mm WSM and Benchmark powder show 400 fps more that other powders!
I have not checked anything out on this and it's just a comment.

<Old Timer>Just received my Load teck a few days ago and am i impressed the predictions almost match the exact readings from my chrono--graf.
Thanks Ed and staff you got another winner.
God Bless

Rob1SGSavage,
I think saw the same thing with the 7mm RM and Benchmark I think this one powder is not right but most of the other match my Chrono'd loads at least those that I've used.

Lar45I got mine in the mail yesterday. It says I need to update my windows for it to work.
22 October 2003, 08:36
jsrLars, the only thing I had to do to load it was change my screen resolution.Go to your "Control Panel","Display" and then "Settings.Where it says 'Screen area",set the pointer at 1024 by 728 pixels. You can change it back after loading the program.

Lar45I changed the resolution, but it still said I needed a y2k update for win98. I loaded WinXP Pro and now it works fine. It seems to be fast and easy to use. I would like to be able to select the powder and charge. For a bunch of 44mag and 454 loads it never came up with win 296?????
23 October 2003, 10:04
HockeyPuckLAR45,
We'll take a look at 296 to see whats the problem. When we determined the powder models, there were thousands of calculations to derive at the 40 or so attributes of each powder used. This was done using some very complex statistical software. When complete, we transferred the attributes into LoadTech. On occassion, we "fat-finger" a value due to a dyslexic keyboard. We found one such error on IMR4064 and have already mailed out a floppy disk with a self-extracting zip file to make that correction. If you haven't received it yet, you soon will.
We'll also take a look at the high velocity comment, too.

<Old Timer>Hello,
I see that "load form a disk" has improved their product, but it still falls way short of Accuload and their new product Loadtech you know it even has straight wall and bottle kneck and coyboy loads both rifle and pistol loads and I have found it is amazing close to my chron-graf and beside these folks will update your caluload to Loadtech for nothing (I think that great especily for us Old Timers on linited income) not like the "Load from a disk" they still want 60.00
All I have to say is thanks to accuload there is something out there that is dependable and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. I call that people with integrity.

BigBrassDoes LoadTech include the newer powders such as Reloder 25 and Reloder 10x? Data on these powders is not easy to find in most of the manuals.
25 October 2003, 09:29
HockeyPuckBigBrass,
Yes, LoadTech contains both of those powders. I'll get our web master to post a list of the powders in LoadTech on our web page this weekend. The lists for powder, bullet manufacturers and cartridges that are currently on our web page are for AccuLoad V2.02. LoadTech has many more.

ramrod340Has anyone had trouble printing? When I hit print I get an "error 429 runtime" ActiveX component can't create object. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions.

<Savage 99>Is it just me or are others concerned with many of the loads this program generates. Take the 7mm WSM for instance which I am somewhat familar.
LoadTech shows for the 120 gr Hornady VMAX and a 24" barrel a max. load of 69.8 grs of H4198 at 3620 fps. Do not use this load or even this powder in this cartridge. The 7mm WSM is in no way capable of taking such a charge!
Then there is the load of 80.5 grs of Accurate 2230 with the same 120 Vmax at 3905 fps. That's right 3905 fps.
Do not use any of these loads.
09 November 2003, 10:34
steve505my older version of calcuload does not use those powders. I crossed checked the 7mm wsm results for accuload with quickload and reasonable agreement.
Sometimes when moving new code, things get broken and it requires extensive software testing to find all the bugs, hopefully not by your customers.
