I’ve built and played w/ multiple 7 Rsaums. Mostly stuck with 150-160gr premium bullets and have had excellent luck with that combo. 150gr sciroccos are phenomenal in that case

Do the short magnums really need the longer barrels to attain their velocity potential?

I have an X Bolt Browning 7mm WSM with a 21.75" barrel which provides an chronographed average of 3230fps MV with Federal factory 140gr ammo, slightly better than the factory spec of 3200fps MV. It also achieves 3005 fps MV with 160gr Hornady factory ammo spec'd at 3000fps MV.

I note the factory spec in COTW for the slightly smaller cased 7mm SAUM is 3175fps MV, barrel length not given for this data but would have thought achievable in shorter barrels than 26"?

Either should work, but I would use Magpro with 180s.

James,

Call Berger. They are usually very forthcoming and helpful with load data.

Likewise send me a PM and I'll get you a scan/screenshot of the 180 gr load data from their manual, though they don't have data for the two powders you list.
