40 SW
Looking for a "plinking" load for a 40 SW using a 180g FMJ. Any suggested load data would be appreciated. Thanks, guys!

When I first started shooting .40 SW, the only powder I had was Titegroup. It functioned well, but was rather sooty. I have since learned that the more oomph behind them, the cleaner it seems to burn. What powders do you have on hand? What pistol will they be shot it?

My plinking load is titegroup with a 180 coated lead bullet.

Reasonably cheap (normally) and rather accurate. It barely makes major power factor, and is essentially a duplicate of my USPSA JHP competition load. Those are with Vhitavouri N320, not so cheap, but no smoke and relatively low recoil.

I’ve used 800X, Blue dot, 231, unique, power pistol, clays, HP38, N340, 3N37, and 4756 all for the .40.

It’s not that hard to find a load, but most are kind of dirty.

pretty much anything from Herco on down will get a bullet out the barrel at 8-900 fps. without any stress.
