Shooter1962Primer fit
I prepped 1500 pieces of 223 brass for match shoot in and AR. I use amy new Dillon primer picket swager. All of the primer pockets feels loose. I checked:
Winchester brass 0.172"
LC brass 0.172"
The brass I prepped 0.174"
The primer swager tip 0.174"
The primers I am using 0.175"
I can seat them 90% with my thumb, no tool.
Dillion Tech support says it is fine. I say BS. This is a semi auto. I can not have loose primers in competition.
I fear I have ruined my entire stock of irreplaceable once fired brass.
Opinions?

Lamarpush them to the bottom of the pocket.
if you can use .002 neck tension on a bullet and slam/stop it in your AR I bet .001 primer tension is way more than adequate.

Shooter1962I was offered a suggestion from a person who also shoots hi power. I tried to push out the primer with a decapping rod using hand pressure. The primer fell out easily.
I can not have primers jamming up my rifle or gas cutting my bolt face. The brass is all scrap. Done.
I was gifted a quantity of brass to meet my needs.
I modified the primer swage. Some time with a diamond lap and my lathe fixed it. I modified the swage tip to make a SAAMI spec primer pocket. It works great now. I am absolutely stunned that Dillon deliberately makes a tool that that is not suitable for the intended purpose.
My bad for not checking the pockets earlier in the reloading session.
Added: I checked the large swage for the tool. The diameter and shape is correct. I suspect the small one was defective as shipped.
