jsl3170speer 270 gr 9.3x62
Gents:
This is the bullet my father in law is planning on loading for his upcoming NM Oryx hunt in a couple of months. Is this an appropriate bullet for this class of game?

Fury01I have never shot one but my buddy carried them on a plains hunt in Africa and said they were a bit soft.
Killed everything he shot at but he thought he would go with a harder bullet on a second chance.
It sure is a good bullet for Oryx; not the best, but it'll certainly get the job done.
Having said that I've plenty of experience with a 9.3x62 for bushveld hunting in RSA (usually shorter range) and a White Sands Missle Range Oryx hunt (unsuccessful) behind me. For Namibia and New Mexico I'd go with a flat(er) shooter 'cause ranges can be long-g-g-er.
Have fun making your choice and hopefully a successful hunt.

vapodogOryx aren't especially large animals. Mush like cow elk or there abouts.
Any bullet for the 9.3 X 62 should be adequate for the job.
Personally, I like the 250 Grain AB

jsl3170I have no idea about the typical shooting range for this hunt. We will enter White Sands at the famous Trinity Gate and go from there.
