Has anyone tried Groove bullets (solid copper) yet?

What do you think of the concept?

Seems to me that they would be about perfect for thick skinned game, but I have neither tested the bullet, or hunted anything more dangerous than bear.

Would anyone care to weigh in on the subject?

FYI they just announced another bullet give away at the website. Giveaway will take place when they get 250 members. They had 201 yesterday.

At over $1.00 each, I think I'll pass.

Groove Bullets range report:

First some disclosures:

Some of you may know that besides the giveaway that took place at 250
registered members Groove Bullets is running a promo at their website
(www.groovebullets.com). They are offering 25 free bullets (your
choice of their inventory) to anyone posting 500 times. I thought that
would be a pretty easy way to get free premium bullets, so I've been
hanging out on the site and as a result was made a moderator without so
much as seeing a Groove Bullet. Honestly, it was a little hard for me
to believe the accuracy claims I read about them. But I finally got to
test some yesterday. The photos speak for themselves.

Here's the first five shot group from my first experience with Groove
bullets:



The target was at 100 yards. The scope was unadjusted for this load.
The flyer was the first shot from a cold barrel. These are the holes
from five .375 diameter bullets fired from a Winchester model 70
chambered in 375 H&H topped with a Leupold Vari II. The cases are from
Federal classic factory loads and have been reloaded several times
before. The primers are CCI 200 large rifle. The charge is a light
"plinking" load of 66 grains of Reloader 15.



My shooting "bench" consisted of an old picnic table on the verge of
collapse, 2 scrap pieces of 4x4 to raise the height to shooting level,
and an old lead shot bag filled with sand for a rest. I can only
imagine what these bullets could do with a competition bench and
rig....

I have fired Winchester, Federal (classic and premium), and Remington
(regular and premium) factory loads, and fired my hand loaded Speer,
Hornady, and Swift loads in this rifle. Now maybe the results shown
above were the result of my continuing quest to become a better
reloader, or the result of my becoming a better shooter as time goes by
- but I doubt it.

I know this sounds suspicious coming from one of their site moderators,
but I have never had a bullet perform as well as Groove Bullets did.
More tests to follow....

The more important test is when you poke some critter with it.....that's the field report I wanna hear!

yah, will that solid copper slug kill or will it bounce off game like some of the other solid copper hollow pt slugs out there! I've used the GSHV's and they kill. Triple shock will kill also, people are lining up waiting for them to be stocked hoping they will shoot in their rifles that wouldn't group the x bullet. I'm sure the groove will to kill just the same. The problem is recovering these bullets, so a fellow can see what happened to it. The prices are comparable to GS Customs, TBBC, Swift. I'm going to try a few, see how they do. Will try the triple shocks also-in a 25-06 and 300 rum that won't shoot anything close to a group with the original x bullet.
