djpaintles46.0grs of Varget and 165gr bullets is one of my std. loads for hunting 308's.
44.0grs of N-140 and 175gr Sierra Match Kings is my favorite target load for 308.
Both in Lapua cases with fed GM210M primers.
Either N-140 or Varget generally work great in the 308. I probably use more Varget since it's a little cheaper and works in other calibers too...................................DJ
....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

gotta agree with varget but i use 44 gr under 165's and shoot 2550 out of a 20" tube.

thanks for the input
hopefully when reloading becomes legal in ireland materials will be much easier to come by
I use 46.5 gr of BLC-2 with a 150 grain bullet.
It holds 3/4" groups as a norm at 100 yards.
winchester cases and primers.
Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
My Ruger M77 likes lighter bullets (58 to 80 grains) really well. Below are my four favorite loads:
58 gr V-max....44 gr Varget....Win primers
65 gr V-max....39 gr Varget.... Win primers
75 gr V-max....35.5 gr Varger....Win primers
75 gr V-max....37.5 gr Varget....Win primers
The lighter load for the 75gr V-max is the most accurate but the heavier load for the 75gr V-max is also very accurate. I use the heavier charge for hunting and the lighter charge for target shooting.

rouser_00well guys

was getting pretty tight groups but this one was by far the best

DrHenleyVarget seems to shoot best in 308 if you back off from max a couple of grains. I had the best accuracy around 42.5 grains with 165 grain bullets.

Congratulations on the good loads.
Isn't reloading great!

Wot's the twist rate on your .308 as this may well dictate your bullet choices. 1-12 likes 150/155's faster twist for the bigger stuff.
