SOURCE FOR .318 JACKETED RIFLE BULLETS
Any of you guys know a good source of .318" bullets for my 8X57JR, something besides the 196 grain from S&B I've been pulling for handloading? Would like something in 150 grain primarily but 180 would do.
Thanks in advance

fredj338Woodleigh makes a 200gr:

BFaucett http://www.hawkbullets.com/Pricelist.htmquote from their web site:
"There are good .318-inch hunting bullets available from Hawk, Inc., . . . I use the company’s 180-grain .318 inch in my drilling, chambered for 8x57 JR, with perfect success on deer."

sierra2Woodleigh bullets, Hawk Bullets, also RWS/RUAG and Sellier & Belot make the 0.318. If you have a friend traveling in Europe, they can pick up some 0.318s for you too. Also, watch Ebay! I picked up a serious supply of Norma 0.318 slugs a couple of months ago via Ebay, cheap too.

Rick TealLee sizing dies are made for resizing cast bullets, and I'm uncertain whether or not they would be appropriate for jacketed bullets as well.
There's also the question of "spring back" of the copper/gilding metal jacket material. Dies designed for drawing down jacketed bullets are usually a little undersized to take care of this. Since there is negligible spring back in lead, lead resizing dies are made to the exact diameter desired. This may present a problem.
I'd suggest you contact C-H Tool and Die (
www.ch4d.com ), who make dies for drawing down jacketed bullets. I believe their price is about twice that of the Lee dies.
