Mule Skinner.300 Weatherby 180 gr. & 200gr. Load data
Can anyone provide their Pet Loads for 180 and 200 gr. bullets in the .300 Weatherby? I will be shooting Partitions and Barnes X Bullets but would like to hear about loads using other bullets as well. Given that I have quite a bit of freebore I would also like suggestions on seating depth as well. Thanks!

John SMy 300Wby is a custom job with non-standard throat so my loads are not going to show as well velocity wise in a rifle with standard Wby throat. That said, this rifle loves the 200gr Nosler partition with 80grs 7828 powder, Fed. 215 primer.

Matt NormanMy 300 Weatherby is a custom version on a pre-64 action, Douglas barrel. I did a lot of load testing using Fed 215 primers in Fed brass. Tried Nosler 180 & 200 grain partitions, 180 Failsafes, and 180 Barnes X with various powders.
The Nosler Partitions shot the best with 82 grains of H4831 behind the 180 grain, and 80 grains H4831 behind the 200 grain. The latter
load gave the best accuracy of all loads tested. I used that load on 15 different critters (plains game) in Africa this past September. Size ranged from springbok to gemsbok and kudu. The bullet performed in typical Nosler Partition fashion: consistently good! The front end of the bullet opened up fast even on the light stuff, and the back end penetrated on completely through.

Mule SkinnerThanks for the feedback. Has anyone used Reloader 25 in the .300 WTBY?

LE270For maximum velocity: 86 gr. of IMR7828 with 180 grain bullets for 3200+ f.p.s., and 83 gr. of the same powder with 200 grain bullets for 3000+ f.p.s., Remington brass, Federal 215 primer. These are very hot loads, so start under and work up. I load to 3.66 in. overall length.
