bartsche.270 reduced loads, adequate for deer perhaps to 175 yards.

Last week a couple reduced loads in the .270 were tried out at the range.
130 grain psp Speer bullet, 27.4 grains "2400" powder, FC cases, WLRM primers, oal=3.330"; 2200 to 2255 fps., just great at 50 and 200 yds.
150gr. FB-sp.,35grains "2200" powder,FC cases, FC primers, oal=3.347",2260 to 2276 fps., 8 shot 3/4" group at 50 yds. {{4 power scope w/ bold cross hairs}}. At 300 yds. it was hitting the small pig silloette every time: in the snot in the ass, in the mid body and the ear with the same point of aim. There was a little wind but not a whole lot.
Any way these are a couple loads that might be of use for youngsters and ladies and those of us who are admitted sissies.

seafire/B17GWell Roger,
actually I was thinking of using the old Model 70 in 270 this season...
RL 7 or IMR 4198, and a 140 grain Ballistic Tip...somewhere in the 2400 fps range.
