22 Hornet problems
First of all I would like to introduce myself, I am 21 years old & have been hunting since the day I could hold a rifle, I bought my first rifle at the age of 17 , a lovely 7 x 57 Mauser , wich after lots of tweaking with loads her average groups run under 12 mm . I come to you in the hope of finding a answer to my hornet problem , I bought a Brno Model 527 in 22 Hornet & have been reloading for this calibre now for more than a year & can't seem to find a load that works , I have bedded the action and barrel , Had a floating barrel & bedded action , but with no luck.

My current load is :

9.4 gr S265 Sonchem ( South African Brand)
Oal : 47 mm
Bullet : Sierra 45 gr Hornet
Primer : CCI (Small rifle)

Do not kow if this would be of any help.

Could someone please suggest loads in my rifle.

Thank you for giving me the time to introduce myself.

Try to find some Remington 6 1/2 primers...esp.made for small rifle cases such as hornet....I have had 5 or 6 different Hornets and they are fun but very picky about small things....I'm not familar with the powder you mention....H4227 is a standard for the Hornet round and works well in several different rifles......good luck and good shooting!!!

I recommend you try Hodgdon's Lil'Gun powder. I like 13.1 grains, behind a 40 grain Hornady V-Max.
I've also found small pistol primers give me better accuracy than small rifle primers did.
Regards, George.

My CZ 22 Hornet likes 12.5 grs. Lil-Gun or 11.0 grs. IMR-4227 with a 40 or 45 gr. bullet seated just off the lands. The 22 Hornet is a fine low recoil, soft report 150 yard varmint cartidge. It has taken a permanent place in my gun closet. Even at todays prices it is very economical to shoot.

Try 10.7 grains of W-296, Federal 100 primer, under a 40 grain Sierra in R-P cases.

I agree with George, a small pistol primer may work better.

you might consider having you chamber reamed out to the K model. I have read and heard the the k model is not nearly as picky as the standard model when it comes to reloading.
