.300 WSM, best powder for 165gr
I am trying to come up with a good load for my son's .300 wsm using 165gr nosler accubonds.

I am shooting for a load over 3000 fps.

I have tried h4350, R22, Hodgdon super,

I am getting anywhere from 1.5"-2.5" with a Savage bolt action.

I used H4831 SC in my 300 WSM for 165s and 180s.

You would be hard pressed to find a powder better than than Winchester 860 Supreme hybrid powder.
you will be able to push the bullet to 3,100-3,200 fps with no problem with pressure.
I use the powder in my 8mm Rem.Mag with a 200 grain bullet and 3,200 fps is easy to do and very accurate at long range.
The powder is very clean burning, little to no flash, and has low chamber pressures and the highest velocities you will ever see.

The best load I have found for the 300WSM with 165 grain bullets is Win case filled with 66 grains of IMR4350. This load is very accurate (sub .5 MOA) and runs 3000 ft/sec. I would consider this a Max load in both rifles I have shot it in.

I just loaded up some 165 gr.ballistic tips with Superperformance.I have not chronod them yet but at 200 yds it was shootin 1 1/4 inch groups.

I was getting the same with 3 gr. less than max than with max at 3120 with the Superperformance . My gun did not burn the powder well with max loads, and the groups where 2" to 2-1/2.

Loads that have worked well for me with 165gr bullets:
65.0grs Win. 760 3150fps
65.0grs IMR-4350 3015fps
67.0grs Ramshot Hunter 3070fps
69.0grs Reloader-22 3030fps

Baldhunter, are you using the standard OAL, or are you loading with the bullet touching the lands.

Never heard of it.

I have three powders that perform very well in my CZ 300WSM with 165gr bullets. In order of accuracy, Norma MRP, Rmashot Hunter, R-17.

Doubt it. WC 860 is for the 50 BMG and has a burn rate similar H870, way to slow for the 300WSM. You will need over 125% fill to get even close to max velocity and pressure in the 300WSM.

I duno, I thought that as well. I did the Google on 860 Supreme hybrid powder. It pops up on several forums and each one is a post from Rapidrop. If it was a typo, then he has posted the same typo all over the net for more than a few years. I think he hasn't a clue what he has or how to use it.

Maybe he took some 780 Supreme, mixed it with a little Hybrid 100V and a little WC 860 and can up with his 860 Supreme hybrid powder!

Ah yes, the duplex load any hand loader can duplicate.Smiler

Seriously folks don't try that at home or anywhere else.
