WstrnhuntrFound cause for inconsistant chrony readings.
Was doing some chronographing with some Rlr-15 in a 35 Whelen and the readings were extremly erratic. I checked batteries first, screen usage. Then tried different brass, bullets, all to no avail.
Then I ran out of that powder lot and voila. Problem solved.
Apparently that lb of powder had seen some rough handeling or something and the last half of it had a lot of sort of crushed bits of powder which threw off the consistency dramatically.
Anyone else experience something like this?

Hot CoreYes, but with RL-19 and 21. I tried maybe 3 jugs of each and found them to give "erratic" PRE/CHE Pressure Indications when I would get near a MAX Load. Didn't consider those Powders "SAFE" for my rifles and passed what I had on-hand to a buddy. I told him what was happening, but he has had good luck with them in his rifles.
Used 2(maybe 3#) of RL-15 in a couple of 308Wins. The Loads woould be extremely accurate with a large quantity Load of RL-15 for a few Range Trips and then groups would open slightly. Went back to good old IMR-4064, Varget, H4895 and H380 for the 308Win Loads and they shoot nice small consistent groups with no erratic Pressure.

JALI thought my powders were giving different weights per vol. when near the end of the containers. So now I store them upside down to
confuse 'em.

rootbeerI've done that, too, JAL. It works every time it's tried on whatever powder you're using.

Yes with my last Chrony! Found out from the factory that model chronograph was confused by the gases leaving the barrel. At least that is what the middle eastern voice

on the other end of the phone said. Said I needed a longer cord which they did not supply

and would have to get at Radio shake. Got an Oehler 35 and don't have that problem no moo.
