I'm having good luck with IMR 4895, which happened to be the only powder in the right burning rate range that I had on hand at the time. Can't remember the exact weight of the powder, but that has to be matched to the individual gun, anyway. My velocity is running about 3940 from a 24 inch barrel. Other powders might get you above 4,000 if your barrel is on the "fast" side.

I suspect that any powder that runs in the "medium" burning range (slower than 3031 and faster than 4350) will do pretty well with this bullet in the .243. Powders from other manufacturers I would recommend trying would be H-380 and H-414, H 4895, Varget, RL 15, VV 140/150, and I'm sure there are a number of others which would also do well.

The 70 grain Nosler B.T. has always been exceedingly accurate in my HB .243, so I was more than a little surprised when the 55 grain B.T. showed even smaller groups!

Hello,
Im using 43,5 grains VV N140 under 55grains NBT.It reaches 1050 meters/s out of my R93 Match.
Accuracy is about 15 milimeters/100m 5 shots.

Schwarz: 1050 mps is only about 3450 fps, which would be very slow for the load you quote. Are you sure about the velocity?

With the 55 gr. bullet (or the 58 gr. v-max) you will find that Varget is very hard to beat. I have use 43.0 to 44.0 grains with a 58 gr. v-max moly coated and I really like it a lot. I have a 14" twist in all of my .243 win. barrels and that helps these light bullets shoot very accurately...Cris284w
