DigitalDanRooster, not long back I had a gratifying experience with a century old .25-20 with iron sights and just the barest of light one night. Then again, with a bit of moonlight the average scope does pretty well at night. I think for now I'll pass on the NV equipment. Oh, and shotguns do well at night too, but they tend to wake the neighbors.

rooster cogburnJust a little of my past military life flowing into my present world. I did have an opportunity to blast a crat w/ an M-60 at a range one day, but I wasn't to be.
I was on a range in Ft.Ord CA. Here comes Mr.Feral jumping around and switching his tail around the 300yd berm. My spotter goes crazy and the adealine rush was killing me. The range didn't have clearence from Range Control yet, so we couldn't shoot.
Five minutes after crat was gone, we hoisted the red flag for a HOT range. I was in a deep depression for days afterward!
I did wear out the ground squirrels w/ 60's and 16's on those ranges.

DigitalDanThat must have been truly depressing.

I hope you got properly snockered that night.
