Yep! Where I live (Gulf of Mexico barrier island), 'yotes are thick and feral cats are few. In fact, most owners of small pets, bet it cats, toy breed dogs, up to 30 lbs know to not leave their animals out overnight. The only place one sees feral cats here is around the bait stands...

I have numerous friends who have had their dogs attacked but packs of 4-10 coyotes, several seriously injured, sometimes in broad daylight!

Yes, please do. The gloves might be self explanatory, the flavored bait intrigues me however.

CDH, yeah, now I'm familiar. Actually I've even used those things but it was some time back and I don't recall that I ever knew the brand. Thanks, and yes, you should remove the double folders before....

Most of my spearfishing was in the time frame of the Arbellete's hey day, though I have certainly used a few other varieties. Around '74 I started using a pole spear and never looked back. Or even looked around for that matter, it was all I needed.

One of the scariest contraptions I ever handled was a common homemade thingy on Guam. Wood stock similar to the AB, about 6' in length, 1/4" shaft with a single integrated folding barb, no string. Typically they had 7 bands of surgical tube and a door hinge for a release mechanism. Dirt simple, unholy powerful, and if you had no backdrop and missed, well, kiss your spear goodbye. If the Spartans had those things at Thermopoly the world would be a different place today.

Speaking of spearguns,I always wanted to figure out how to put a tip on one like the Shark Stix have on the end of them. The ones with a 12 gauge shell holders.
Do they still make the Shark Stix?
I'd like to have a walking cane/hiking stick with that on the end.
Here kitty kitty....BOOM.

Power head for 'bang sticks'

My understanding is that they are not considered firearms either, since they work at contact range, not by propelling a bullet, but still require a shaft to be legal. I was thinking of making a .22lr smoothbore for ease in extracting critters from live traps...but haven't gotten that idea past the idea stage.

Thanks CDH.
I took a look at that website and that just what the doctor ordered.
I wonder if I could get one of those made up in 3.5" Mag?
One that fires boat flares would look good in a cats hindend.

CDH I have to disagree with the others. If you are hauled into court just remember, You were attempting to keep kitty from running loose and bothering the neighbour. It wasn't your fault that the leash was so short, how were you to know of the dangers. You wee just trying to be contiencious and a good neighbour. How you explain the bullet holes in the neighbouring houses I don't know. Possibly you could claim colateral damage and maintain "plausible denyability". derf
