Feral Dorgs
I'm new to this forum and need your help. Further north in the U.S., I've had great sucess on suburban crats with a box trap & crat food. I once even got two in the trap at the same time. Today I face a new and wily adversary on foriegn soil.

I live in the far south part of a large southern U.S. state. I work just across the river in another country which frowns on U.S. Citizens having anything to do with firearms (hint).

We have a large group of feral dorgs roaming our factory grounds scattering garbage and leaving doggy land mines. I like dorgs, but these are problems. They do not appear to be anyone's pets.

I've supplemented their nutrition with dry dorg food & ethelene glycol which has thinned them out significantly. There remain a few ingrates who seem not to appreciate these vitamin supplements and avoid ingesting them.

I am appealing to the group's vast base of knowlege & experience on any alternative diet supplements or other quiet (unarmed) subtle ways i can further reduce the population of these crafty and dangerous adversaries.

Best Regards,
Chinahand

Kryptonite, if you can find any. Otherwise I'd say you're on the right track. Castor beans work well too.

The castor beans should be uncooked. They'll be inedible if cooked.(castor oil) Another option along those lines, in your neck of the woods, is the precatory bean. The active ingredient in precatory beans is abrin. The active ingredient in castor beans is ricin. It's been in the news as a possible terrorist poison, so don't go shopping for them too loudly. Either one is extremely effective. If you find precatory beans, take care in handling them not to break the hard outside shell. The abrin inside can be absorbed through the skin. It's very painful and can make you ill.

Just to be politically correct, lets change 'dorgs' to 'drogs'.

Feral Drogs.

"Dorgs" sounds like pets for those damn Borgs from outer space or Iceland.

I was at church yesterday and a friend and neighbor (about a mile away) "accused" me of letting 3 dogs run loose in the neighborhood to chase her deer. I was highly indignant and quickly told her that my Yorkie (all of 6 lbs) never goes outdoors unescorted and would run like the dickens if he even saw a deer. Wink

I told her I could come take care of the dogs for her, but she didn't take me up on the offer. I told her if she didn't as soon as the does drop fawns, the dogs will have them so she better get rid of them in the next 3 months.

Hmm? Wonder if a feral drog/dorg would come to a varmint call? Confused Whatcha think DD?

Now this is really off the wall here! How about small ball of burger with an LSD tablet or blotter frozen into the middle of it. Make the ball small enough to swallow. Like I said, off the wall and you probably wouldn't know where to find such a thing. So maybe the beans inside of that frozen ball?
By the way, I do belive that DD will be out of touch for a bit. derf

I find I can suffer thru a while without DD's rumations for a spell.
As long as it's not too long.
The best thing 'bout DD's excursions is that he will be back in here with tales of his travels.
It's sorta like ,,,,,,,,well you already know. Smiler

Jeez,

Thanks for the ideas guys. As soon as I saw the Ricin link to Castor beans I figured I'd better be careful with that one (borders, etc).

I was thinking along the lines of Derf's meatball suggestion. First, I don't mess with special ingredients like that, and second, Around here the people that trade in that kind of stuff are nobody you'd want to mess with. This city got a lot of media attention for narcoviolence last year and it is worse this year, 'ceptin' that after they shot up the newspaper & radio station, there's not much investigative journalism happening any more. But the meatballs are a good idea with the other kind of beans. Have to hit the library and learn more about precatory beans.

Thanks for the spelling correction. Never had this much trouble with crats. I'll keep ya'll posted

Thanks,
Chinahand

Google precatory beans and you can find out lots about them, and there is a site that sells them for $2 for 7 in a package.

Notice that its use in "jewelry " is prohibited. That's because to put them on a string you have to pierce the shell, which exposes the abrin to handling. There was (supposedly) a lady who prayed everyday for relief from her recurring illness while (you guessed it) fondling her precatory prayer beads.

Hmmmmm, ya might have sumpthin' there, brassb.

It brought to mind, since the Brudder-N-law is leading the life of a bachelor now(Big Grin),I should get him a gift.
He couldn't change a crat-box without printed instruction, using 'Hooked On Phonics'.
But I believe he could knit(?)himself a beaded doorway curtain if I got him some of those beans,a power needle drill, and a spool of fishin' line. Wink
I'll bring the beer.
But then I have to bring it anyway. Roll Eyes

I know feral drogs will respond to a squeaker call or any small distress call.

unsweetened baking chocoloate. Contains Theobromine. It takes roughly 75 mg of Theobromine per lb of body weight. 1 oz of bakers chocolate contains 390-500 mg of Theobromine. Theobromine causes hyperactivity, increased heart rate, followed by tremors, seizures and death over a span of three to six hours. 2 to 3 oz per 15 lbs. of canious soontobedeadeous. They will usually scarf it like raw meat. If not throw it in the middle of some raw meat. Don't worry if they don't eat it all at once. It has a half-life in the critter of 17 hours so even 24 hours later they still have 30% of what they ate still in their system. Has many applications. clap

Got home this pm and found a dumpped drog at the house. Mad So I fed him some beans, 00Bk, beans that is. Wished his owner had kept him or found him a new home. Instead of "giving" me his unwanted problem. Cleaned up he would have been a nice looking Huskie, Nor. Elk Hound, what ever.

I hate to have to clean up lazy people's litter.

looks like I may need to refine my dosing to 150 mg per pound. Course current dosing has proved effective in recent clinical trials/

Wow!

I'm off to the baking goods aisle at the grocery store. How thoughtfully convenient! A plan I can put into immediate use while I wait for my bean seeds to get here! I'll use some of the beans on arrival, but save a few of them for the garden so I'll have a larger supply.

Uh, of course I do have a crat problem here on the US side so I'll try the chocolate here too. Up till now I've been live trapping and deporting strays.

OT, sorry. Hey Swede, I rescued a '96 from a pawn shop. I've taken the 6 mm Rem barrel off and would like to replace it with a 6.5 x 55. Know any where I can get a take-off military barrel?

Thanks,
Chinahand

What about powdered cocoa? Not hot chocolate or chocolate milk mix, but the pure stuff that you cook with. According to the Merck veterinary manual it has 800 mg/oz. vs. 450 mg/oz for bakers' chocolate.
Chinahand,
My grandma used to plant castor plants along the side of her garden. She said the odor of the roots drove away moles.

Yes I would use chololate or put a water dish out with anti-freeze in it. Anit-freeze is very popular around here to get rid of drogs and crats.
