hughjassDid you see the story on TV about the woman who was saved from the alligator by her dog? She was swimmin in the pond and heard rushing water. Turned aorund and saw the alligator coming. The dog swam between her and the gator and the dog got ate instead. Seems like a waste of a good dog to me. If an adult is stupid enough to go swimming when an alligator that big is around, she deserves to be alligator poop.

DigitalDanLil Bob is the one in the picture actually, looks about 7' to me. The pic was taken from about 25' distance(my driveway). He's growing faster than I thought he would, but you know how teenagers are, especially with that high protien diet!

BTW, he must be full of coon or squill, because a live squill ran the edge of the rocks right under his nose a few secs after I took this picture. Never realized Bobby was there. Bob saw the squill and started to make a move then stopped and went back to his nap. Ah, those wonderful breezy spring days...
Big Al hasn't made an appearance yet this year. Last I saw, before all the hurricanes, he was around 9' and pretty chunky. Probably gettin' more than Li'l Bob, but that's to be expected... Al may top 10' if he shows up this year. If is the operative word on this, locals quit thinking they're cute when they get over 10' for some reason.

Thank God they don't get as big as crocs!

If they did I'da packed his ass off to the boot factory.

deciple-of-keithGod Teenagers they grw up so fast.
Back in the 70s whilst shooting in the NT for buff .My then Boss used to enjoy .Barrumundie fishing.(In fact he prefered fishing to working7 left us to do his share as well as our own

).His fav spot was on a large Lagoon. He would religously.Strap on a mod29 .44mag& then walk out ontop ofthe waterlilles and fish.I asked him once ,why he wore the gun. After much thought he pointed out the fact that,a 16ft "SALTY"(salt water croc)Lived in the lagoon & probarly lurked under the Weeds. So the gun was insurence!I point out to him that if he did get to get a shot into said SALTY it would do little more than piss it off!!!!!!! His reply was who said it was for the Croc

Exactly my thoughts! We have Saltys here in the Windy State, down in the southern tip of the state. Seen 'em over 14' in the Everglades National Park. I shall always doubt the wisdom of keeping creatures like that around.

ToolmakerDan, I believe those are American Crocs.
Much more well behaved then the Nile Croc(smaller too) that everybody keeps talking about, relatively speaking.
Be glad you don't have to deal with "Gustav" a 8 meter+ Croc that lives in Lake Tanganika. Has been known to kill and eat ADULT hippos!

It gets better - he's only sixty years old, they expect him to top 35 feet if he lives to be a hundred. I dunno if he'll live that long, he's developed a taste for bathers and has recently disappeared. Only time will tell....

All things are relative. They are still crocs, and that's a crock.

Don't care to have 12" of water between my keel and one of 'em.

I suppose the difference between them and the Aussie version is a matter of ranking on the rig-tear-crush index based on size. I never saw a gator as big as that friggin' lizard though.
NS, I admit culpability in regards to serving up possum on the half shell. The boys don't seem too choosy.

Aspen Hill AdventuresDanno,
That's one happy lizard. Keep him that way, toss him snacks often. Any poodles around your parts?

DigitalDanWe don't allow French derivitives 'round these parts ma'am. We do have some other slipper substitutes however, restless little yappers they are too.

One of these fine days it's going to sound like this: "Yip-Yip-Yip-Yap-Yap-Yap-AAiiiieeeChomp" It's called two part harmony. You want the front part or the back part?

I assume that one of the boys will take the part in the middle. Maybe more.
