Only the top of his head was visable at 165 yards, so I sent a 300 grain SMK his way

MS HitmanNice rig, but did you have enough energy to have ethically taken that coyote?
If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Hang on a second Hitman, let me grab my calculator and figure out if he had enough energy to actually kill that coyote -- he might be faking it.......

Yup, I'd have shot him at least two more times -- just to make sure.

mt AlJWP, AWESOME!
FYI: THere's a wolf season in Montana now. Not sure where you live, but you are cordially invited out here to see if the 338, though seemingly sufficient to kill a coyote, will work on a wolf. I have my doubts, the only way to prove it is to kill one.
I've read about your long muley kill this year, now this. Any chance you'd put a list of equipment that you use down for us?

Thanks for the invite, I'd love to smok a Wolf. They are rather reclusive and difficault to hunt, at least in Alasks they are.
My equipment consists of a Kestrell 3500 pocket weather station, inorder to get barometric pressure, temp, humidity, and wind speed. I also use the Nightforce version of Ex-bal ballsiticsa targeting software program. I have it on my desk top computer as well as a handheld computor that I can take into the field. If the operetunity presents itself for a truely long shot I can imput real time data for more precise infomation. I also use ballistic card that I make and carry in my shirt pocket.
Ballistics cards
Hand held computer and the Kestrell 3500
I also use a Swarovski laser range finder
I hope I have answered your question
