Lowrider 49Trebuchet' range report
#1 son's Design Engineering II class built a trebuchet' with a 7' arm and it flung a 4 lb pumpkin 80 yds on the first try and with some design tuning and practice, 100 yds is acheivable.
Since Crats are a lot more "draggy" with all that fur maybe we can only expect 50 yds. We need ammo!!

CDHWrap 'projectile' with duct tape to improve BC, and 'handle-ability'.
Pictures?

With the crat's head sticking out, it should be regarded as a softpoint...

Lowrider 49Let's see...softpoint saboted round with a fuzzy streamer. Maybe we could improve on that with an explode on impact fuse igniting the duct tape wrapped napalm pumpkin filling providing pussytat flamebe'!!!
Need ammo!!....got punkins!

CDHNote: For a simple easy ignite on impact device, cut the heads off of "strike anywhere" matches and pack heads into projectile.
A tennis ball so packed and taped closed really gets guys attention when thrown at their feet from a college dorm room. Not that I've ever seen it, of course...

Lowrider 49At about age 10, I had a front pocket full of strike anywhere matches when I was invited to play football with some friends. I lasted about 5 plays before I was tackled and went up in flames....still have the scars!! Lesson learned!!

You to.

poletaxThe lil' brother and I were shooting my pellet rifle in the back yard.
I was 10 so that would make him 6.
I came up with the wonderful idea to stick a kitchen match into the barrel and shoot the match at the driveway.
Sure enough,it lit right up.
The downside is it bounced up a stuck in the corner of lil' bro's mouth while it was still lighting up.

Wow,I didn't know he could make so much noise.
I sure miss that rifle.I'm reminded of it everytime I look at the little scar in the corner of my lil' brothers mouth.

D99I can't wait to see the cat-a-polt!

Lowrider 49The project was disassembled and they are on to the next effort. The school yearbook photographer took pictures of it and we're hoping to get a copy which I'll post. I haven't seen it either, but apparently I donated 20' of 2" heavy wall chromemoly tubing at about $3 a foot and a bunch of welding rod...as long as they are pursuing a holsom goal I suppose it is just fine....what could be better than a crat flinger!!

...and they didn't even let you take a test shot or three? I do hope you have the opportunity to reassemble it at the target range of your choice.
