Aspen Hill AdventuresNice bunnies!
I've plinked a few squirrels already this autumn. Made some pot pie out of them.

HipshootNOW THAT'S BETTER!
I always loved rabbit hunting but had to wait for the snow to have much success.
And my favorite was squirrel hunting with my scope sighted .22. The hunting style was just like my deer hunting. Still hunting or just sitting!

Not on that trip but on a later one our group of 5 shot 999 rabbits in two weekends running. Why not an even 1000 well we all keep our own count and did not do the sums till we got home.
Same Farm, different trip, set up about 150 metres from a rabbit warren.

HipshootFox,
That looks a lot like varmint hunting here in the U.S.! Looks like a lot of fun.
Years ago about 50, I read an article about a couple of Aussie guys who hunted mostly rabbits and some Roo for the meat which was shipped to Europe for food. It was very interesting!
Jason,
Didn't do much small game where I lived due to it being very populated. About a 1/2 hr. drive to any small patch of woods. Family had a summer house out on east end of Island where there was a lot of farms. Did some rabbit and squirrel hunting out there but there was not much else to hunt.
Later I hunted a lot on my Hunting Club property upstate N,Y. Slim there but a few rabbits and mostly squirrels and on rare occasions a grouse or woodcock (rare)

Foxhunter223We tend to do quite a lot of what you call varmint shooting. In fact the reason I started was because of reading about it on forums like this.

Jason PA little off topic but I am amazed to see all the different areas of the world people are from, that enjoy hunting as much as I do.
Unfortunately, the small game hunting is not too great in Utah. I did make it out twice for grouse and my son an good friend was able to shoot one.
We do have some rabbits but not many!

ZekeShikarI seem to shoot lots of Eurasian doves throughout the year since they're not under regulation (no season or limit).
I went on a goose hunt a week ago and shot 6 Eurasian doves and one goose. Quite the mixed bag and not one I've done before. Yes, steel shot is a bit pricy for a dove but who cares about money?

ZekeShikarI've been elk hunting off and on for a couple weeks now and we've drawn a blank. I could have shot one but I'm legally mentoring a grandson with my tag in hopes that he can be the shooter. He's not as fast on the draw as me and we let a little bunch walk away.
We've been seeing a ton of cottontail rabbits and I've been holding off shooting any since we're supposed to be elk hunting.
I will be going back for some rabbits after the elk is down. The bunnies rank right up there as one of my wife's favorite meals.
Can't wait!

p dog shooterI have no clue how many rabbits and squirrels I have killed in my life.
When still hunting deer in the woods I know I am moving correctly.
When the gray squirrels come scampering by without noticing me.

Hipshootpds,
Yeah, I always felt that squirrel hunting was a good Tune Up for deer hunting!

ZekeShikarWe really don't really squirrel hunt in my neck of the woods. We do hammer some prairie dogs but not for food but do it to make the farmer/rancher happy.
We do take several cottontails every year for a feast with the family (my wife and married adult kids and grandkids). It's some fine chewing IMHO. I make a pretty mean rabbit stew too!
I'm still trying to get that elk down (one of the grandkids is the shooter on my tag) and then I can get serious for a few bunnies. Headed out tonight for the elk hunt tomorrow (fingers crossed).
