For some of you guys who are running low on stock. Got this off a newsgroup:
Owners want to give cats away after feline in Germany dies of bird flu
March 3, 2006
National Post/Agence France-Presse
The German animal welfare society was cited as saying yesterday it was being overwhelmed by people who wanted to give their cats away or put them down after a farm cat on the Baltic island of Ruegen died of bird flu.
Alexandra Diezermann, a spokeswoman for the group, was quoted as saying, "Cat owners are in a panic. We have had endless phone calls from people wanting to give away their cats immediately. Some are even ready to have them put to sleep. It is really bad."
Germany's national veterinary laboratory confirmed yesterday the dead tomcat had been infected with the highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 bird flu that can prove fatal to humans. It was the first case of an infected mammal in the European Union.
Another spokesman for the group, Jan Pfeifer, was quoted as saying, "Nationwide, several hundred cats have been left with us. People are scared their cats have bird flu."

That is fantastic. Hopefully they will start rounding up the feral cats on this base and killing them.

brassbIf the cat disposal system gets severely overloaded maybe they'll call in some of us experts. You know, like hiring snipers to get the deer population under control when regular hunting isn't permitted.
Maybe this is a good time to offer some efficient home euthanasia advice to German crat-serfs.

If you think about it you already know the scenario when cats really start catching the bird flu. The cat huggers, cat lovers, enviro wackos, little old ladies, animal control officials, feral colony supporters, and yes even your cousins are going to start dumping cats, ignoring them, not catching them, and contriving to get shut of cats as far as possible from THEMSELVES as soon as the cats ijn this country really start catching the bird flu. You see the tip of the catberg now. With bird flu transmission to people from birds well known, and the fear of human to human transmission greatly touted, transmission from cats is every bit as bad as either, if it happens, just another vector. If you catch it the mortality rate is high. These same things started happening in the early to mid 80's when feline aids was discovered and cats went noticeably out of favor for five years till the lack of transmission to people was confirmed. You think the border stops illegals, how about the virus from birds?, or people? or west nile?, killing people now and countless millions of animals right here in the U.S. Cats, like rats, are VERMIN!
