A noble cat
Last night I was driving home from my folks' house, when I saw something gray on the centerline.
I figured it was just some roadkill possum until it moved! It was a crat, trying to cross to the other side of the road, who had frozen halfway across. By the time I identified the target it was too late to swerve and the target was moving again, fast.
Then, just as I got even with it, it did a 180 and ran under my car. When I turned around and went back I didn't see anything, but I distinctly heard a good solid THUMP of radial on kitty.
Here's the thing:
Lately I've been kind of down because my traps are empty, my bait is untouched, and I haven't even seen a fluffy within range of my shooting perch in weeks.(Max M, I feel your pain) That crat must have "sensed" my unhappiness and threw itself under my tires to brighten my day. I wouldn't have believed a cat capable of an act of noble self-sacrifice, but there it is!

DO NOT BE MISLED BY WHAT HAPPENED. That cat was up to no good. You will probably find a big gob of cat guts blasted onto your front-end suspension. The little *astards do that you know.

brassb--wait just a minute--isn't "noble cat" an oxymoron? However, on second thought, a crat that perches on the rock wall surrounding my lanscape beds in the back yard and allows me to ventilate its cranium might be close to noble-nope, on third thought, just dead.

At over $2 something a gallon for fuel, I am happy to see that you went back to make sure the lil' *astard didn't get picked up by some pathetic bleeding heart and taken to a 24hr pet emergency!!
Heres to you, brassb! beer
Also I believe N.S.Sherlock is right, don't be fooled the lil' bugger wanted to try and tear up something on the vehicle that you spent your hard earned money for. They are hoodlums on four paws and need to be exterminated by whatever means!

We Americans were tired of being thought of as dumb, by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November 2008 and removed all doubt.....let's not do it again in 2012 please.

He was probably trying to slash you tyres for ya!
A little off topic but last night while coming back from a road trip(had to pick up a CVA flinter and a Winnie Model 12) we run over a deer in Manning Park. Luckily for the Jimmy Jr.(S15) it was mostly flattened out already! Saw 2 bands of Mountain Sheep between Hedley and Keremeos too. The Ewews were real scruffy looking with great clots of wool coming out. Must mean an early spring! I hope!! Derf

when I read the title I almost passed up the post, there is just no such thing as a noble crat, it was probably trying to sabotage your brake line
