poletaxA thousand yards?
I'm too old and crippled up to 'Drive' that far.
How about shooting ten crats tied to a post 100 yards out?

DigitalDanTas, I wish you well with the idea but you have some serious competition with this in the form of The Varmint Hunters Association.
http://varminthunter.org/They have such a club already, and last time I looked their list of 1000 yard members was LONG. Their grouping for this starts at 500 yards, then 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and 2,500 yards. Couple of Jambories back there was discussion in the quarterly they publish, "Varmint Hunter", about Gordy Gritters plinking at PD's over 3000 yards out. He didn't get any but made a few of them religious.

Their rules are a bit more stringent than what you propose, but not much. Good luck regardless!

120mmDammit, Dan, Gordy went and moved his shop again. I drove by a few months ago, (right after I left your neck of the woods, obtw) and there was some plain looking guy wondering how come I was trying to get into his garage.
I need to find him and see how he's doing....

DigitalDanSorry to here that 120mm. He's still out there somewhere, just like the truth. His stature has grown in recent times, he may have needed a bigger garage.

Let me know when you find him, and pass along that we're keepin' an eye on him and his accomplishments.

feel free to give it a try. we made a slight amendment to the "rules;" we're going to add 500yrd, 750yrd and 900yrd categories. this will hopefully give you long-rangers a chance to "work your way up!"
