muygrandeRoom Plans - Extension to Existing
I am out of room! Live on the first hole of a golf course about 200 yards to the right of the tee box and receive a lot of incoming. Big oaks knock down most but if I extend the current roof line over what is now a large back deck area it will open to more "hits" from the local hackers/slicers off the tee of which I am one.
Anyone with ideas as to glass/plexiglass or other material that is being used under these conditions? It would also need to be UV, etc rated to keep out the harmful rays.
This additionl will house most if not all of my African collections which is only eight at the moment but still have hopes!
Appreciate any advice along these lines that the experts have to share.

SkiBumplus3I live on a golf course. You can get special windows. Been awhile since I built but any contractor should have the brands.

SevensI say no windows, they take up wall space!

muygrandeThanks for the insight and I will check out the "windows" with contractor and Sevens of course you are correct but I need to be able to see the friends whiffing their shots on the course and yes I do live with "the boss" and we all know how they enjoy the light!

Outdoor WriterCustom-built outer screens with stiff mesh smaller than a golf ball that cover the entire window would likely be cheaper than golf-ball proof glass.

carpediem4570I think all of you are missing a golden opportunity here.
First, to the windows: I would build a retracting golf ball proof window and have it installed.
Next: I would buy a brand new shotgun of your choice, a drinks stand for holding gin and tonics and a couple of very comfortable adirondack chairs for your chums and spectators.
Now: When you have a few minutes, grab the shotgun and a couple of drinks, go to the window and open it up and every time someone is about to swing at his ball, yell PULL. When the ball comes thundering toward your window, shoot. After a couple of rounds of this the golfers will probably be a little more careful on that tee.
Kindest regards,
