Outdoor WriterRe: Holiday Inn Thermopolis, WY
AnotherAZWriter,
Did the place have a life-size elephant, with most of the mounts in the restaurant area with a court-yard type setting. If so, perhaps you're thinking of the Fort Hotel in Fort Nelson, BC? -TONY

BlankIf you're in Wyoming and pass throught the town of Pinedale, stop at the local grocery store/ACE hardware. It is huge and has trophy mounts from around the world totally encircling the entire store. A must-see for sure!

fla3006One of the world's preminent experts on Oberndorf Mausers lives in Thermopolis, Al Valle. Also quite a stockmaker.

kudu56I lived there for 14 years. Just moved north a few miles.
Jim Mills is part owner of the HI and most of the trophys are his. Some are towns folks and a few are his daughters and wives. Jim is in his mid 60's but could keep up with a 40 year old. Great guy and very interesting. He hunted Mozambique in the 50's. He was also a pro boxer in the Chicago area I think. That is where he is from. Al Valle is a childhood friend of Bob's. They grew up together and both ended up in Thermop. Al has a cleaning business and a butcher shop.
Yes Bob Milek also was born and raised in Thermop, I was on the fire dept with Bob, he was a kick in the shorts. Never a dull moment, and one of the most down to earth, honest, conservative people you could ask to know. His sons are just like him. He is missed around town.
I wish I had known you were that close, we could have had dinner or a drink!

dwhunterAnotherAZWriter,
I think you are correct about the place near Watson Lake, I will go through my things and see if I can find the name of the place.

kudu56I never seen a place in Watson that had lots of trophys but I sure enjoyed the signs. I placed one from Thermopolis there.
