Lets see. Your wife gets a beautiful kitchen. You saved alot of money doing the work yourself. U'm this smells like another trip to Africa. You do great work, the house looks very nice.

You split every stud! And deck screws will suffice, I have ( I can brag to) 40 animals on my walls, some for over 20 years, all hung with 2 1/2" deck screws, never lost a one!

Nope. Construction 101 - Studs don't split when they are properly pre-drilled to accommodate the lag bolt shanks. -TONY

Scott,

Not likely. Unlike many on this site, one trip to Africa was enough for me.

If I wished to return somewhere to hunt again, it would probably be to NZ. That said, there are still a couple places and/or species I haven't hunted that are still on my radar.

But as the years pass, the likelihood of getting to do those hunts diminish greatly as the hills seem to always get steeper. Wink -TONY

This will be the latest addition as soon as it comes home, probably next week.

It was done by Chris Krueger -- Krueger Creations, and at the AZ Taxidermy Assoc. competition in June, it won:

*State Champion Life Size (Best of Catagory)
*Master's Division - First Place
*Artisan's Award - most artistic piece
*McKenzie's Best Lifesize
*People's Choice Award

We kind of modeled it off this Bobcat/snake video at the 1:22 mark near the very end.

Bobcat snake video

These are the parts that went into the mount before the alterations. The bobcat form is one of Chris' original sculptures sold through Research, which he dramatically changed for my mount. The steel rod, which Chris cut and welded to shape, goes from the base through the snake and into the bobcat's mouth. The 'cat will slide off the snake, and the snake is removable from the base, as well.

Tony:
All that is mighty impressive.
I've done a lot of salvage too. Built a brick garage/shop 13'6" walls, 50' long, 25' wide of double wide brick those old govmnt bldg's were made of in the '40's. Flat roof trusses cut n rewelded to a 5' center ht. Three sets of 9'hx13'6" windows. all salvaged. don't have $5000 in the whole building, $1500 of that was the roll up door 18'w x 13'h.

Wife got the house, I built the shop. Now that she's gone, I've come up with some good sized mounts and no walls to hang 'em on. Only 8' ceilings in the house and all the windows in the shop, there's no wall left out there either. Other side is shelves for storage and work bench 34' long.

What I keep looking for on your thread is some pics of your shop!

Hate to say it, but, IF that cat caught that snake in real life he'd been bit for sure, that far back of the head. Otherwise it's a mighty fine display.

Best to you for a long healthy life to enjoy all that fine work and great hunts.
George

Great job Tony! I remember walking around those
rooms while it was under construction and you showing me where everything was going to go. For any of you who don't know Tony did all the work himself.
