Hugh WBetter Trophy: Wildebeest or Warthog?
I would like to poll the forum as to what is the better shoulder mount? WIldebeest or Warthog? My bet is on the warthog. Any photos of good mounts would be appreciated.WarthogWildebeest

Widowmaker416Hugh,
Do the wildebeest in a shoulder mount, a pedastal also looks great!
The warthog, because of the size, a shoulder mount doesn't show it off right, doesn't do it justice. Do it lifesize, I did one of mine lifesize, (and I'm going to do my other 2 lifesize too!). I get alot of comments on the Lifesize, people look at it and say, "Wow! a warthog does mike a great mount!"
think about it..................

Hugh WWidowmaker,
Do you have any pics you could share of either?

madabulaYou didn't say if it was a blue or black wildebeeste. Both make pretty neat mounts. So does a warthog. The thing w/warthogs is that straigh on you can't see much for the snout and tusks. Think about an extreme offset or wall pedestal type mount. I'll try to attach a photo here but if not the url is: wwww.mikescustomtaxidermy.com/images/Photo/warthog%20wall%20ped%202.jpg.
Pedestal mounts really inprove the personality of all 3 of these animals.

The warthog link didn't pan out. Please try again, as I'm having mine done soon and would like to see the "extreme" look.

The first warthog I ever shot was really big as far as body size. I decided to mount him life size. It made a very nice mount, but it is BIG and takes up quite a bit of space. I just don't have enough space to do another one life size. My next two got shoulder mounts. My wildebeest I mounted half life size and it flanks the entry to my trophy room along with my half life size kudu. Half life size on these two lets you show the colors on the side of both. If you have the room, I would do at least one warthog life size.
Blue wildebeest! Poor mans cape buffalo!

Got it, thanks. Looks like it had one too many "W"'s at the begining and a period at the end.
You should not have to decide between the two. A warthog is as basic to an African trophy room as a pair of denims is to a wardrobe. And, a wall mounted shoulder pedestal on a blue wildebeast is one of the most striking mounts.

Michael RobinsonI voted for the wildebeest, but want to qualify it by specifying the Nyasa subspecies:
But the warthog can also be done very well, IMO:
Now that is one nice piggy!
